Sixes - Self Titled 7"

Sixes are a Hardcore band from Olympia, Washington. I caught them when they played at ABC No Rio earlier this year, and actually ended up playing a show with them at the now dead-yet-legendary Philly Punk House the terrordome and they blew me away both times. TONS of energy.

This 7" is great. 4 CRUSHING songs filled with interesting guitar parts, and a tight as hell rhythm section. Musically, it reminds me alot of 90's hardcore, I hear alot of Trial and Catharsis. If you get a chance, see them live, they put on a great show and the singer has a shit-ton of energy.

Zhenia Golov - Proscription

The last album put out by New Brunswick New Jersey D-beat Rock n' Rollers. A great mix of straight up, pissed off d-beat with some great rock n' roll parts. I also feel like I sense some 90's influences in some parts. Lyrics about wanting to escape and how eating human flesh is more humane then eating the flesh of an animal. There are also a handful of really cool spoken word pieces throughout the album, which help make the mood more somber.

An overall killer album.


As they put it, "Our second (and final) full-length. The culmination of three years of beating our heads against the wall. Our swansong. Our magnum opus. Blah blah blah. Ten tracks, three of which are spoken word -- one from each party involved. Recorded in our attic in lovely New Brunswick over the course of a windy May weekend with former beardo Ryan Jones."
